Element Description
The age describes how old a person is. It is based on date of birth which the system then calculates the age.

Business Practices
The age is used for benefits determination. Employees need to be 18 to be eligible for benefits. It is also used to determine the supplemental life insurance rates for employees who elect to carry supplemental life. The age is also used to determine if an employee is eligible for the Age 50 extension for savings plans.
In the data warehouse the date of birth is used to determine which group the employee falls within. The Age Count queries were the source for the age groupings. The following is the grouping for age:
